SEPHORA APP REDESIGN

CONCEPT :
The concept was to create a unique platform from site mobile web and upgrade to a true mobile-first experience. Our mission was to lead with inspiration and a constant influx of new content, which will compel our client to download the app and leverage it as their daily personal beauty companion.

DEVELOPMENT :
The development began with an extensive research process on how inspirational content is treated in a mobile space. Use of model imagery was imminent, which our current space could not successfully accommodate.

EXECUTION :
The execution is a simplified system of full-frame content boxes separated by recognizable striped branding. Typography is consistently nestled above imagery in every content block as the user scrolls. Carousels also provide inspirational content but in an organized way for unique app experiences.

The strategy of the app home page (fig. 1) was the same content as the site mobile web home page (fig. 2). Content was inconsistent in each section due to the growing amount of mobile requests without a high-level / holistic approach for execution.

Placing copy above image created natural mobile scroll (fig. 3). Editorial imagery contained in boxes provided an organized method for inspirational content (fig. 4).

Concept wireframes provided further insights into how copy should be treated (fig. 5) as well as how the content boxes should be separated (fig. 6) to introduce Sephora branding.

Once the wireframe exercises were complete, current content was pressure tested to ensure everything had an organic home in the new structure (fig. 7). The end result is a simple yet exciting home page packed with hints of branding and constantly updated content (fig. 8).
