RESPONSIVE E-COMMERCE

CONCEPT :
The concept was to overhaul Kooba’s current e-commerce site to create an experience consistent with the quality of their product. Their current space could not accommodate the growing range of products, and the functionality was limited to a desktop experience. Close collaboration with development was needed, as there was also a demand for flexible content hierarchy on the home page.

DEVELOPMENT :
The development began with taking the current framework and understanding how to upgrade what the user was already accustomed to without shocking the system. There was no mobile experience, so the goal was to merge desktop updates with responsive design. Once the initial framework was established, research helped inform decisions on how to emphasize product photography for a more sophisticated experience.

EXECUTION :
The execution establishes a cohesion between modern functionality and simplistic elegance. Two content frameworks create flexibility based on various product lines, while maintaining a consistent brand voice.

The original site (fig. 1) only accommodated a desktop experience. The interface was overly complicated and detracted from the quality of the products.

Content flexibility was needed for the home page based on varying strategies, which resulted in establishing two wireframes under the same development framework (fig. 2, fig. 3). Responsive design was also implemented to expand user reach and ease of use (fig. 4).

The updated grid provides a clean and sophisticated way to view the products that tie back to the home page experience (fig. 5). The mobile assets can also be directly translated to email, providing efficient and streamlined content (fig. 6).
