BENEFIT COSMETICS SOCIAL POST
CONCEPT :
The concept was to create an inspirational lifestyle image to live on Sephora’s organic social platform. Mandatories included showing range of shades for the Benefit Cosmetics Fool Proof Brow Powder product, as well as representing the ease of application.
DEVELOPMENT :
The development initiated with research behind the brand and product line. Once initial direction was established, further studies into lighting, composition, and styling was conducted to achieve the desired effect. Sketches were created, and props were ordered.
EXECUTION :
The execution accomplishes the vintage magician theme with long exposures from vanity lights and selective highlighting. The image was well received with 50,000+ likes, and was re-grammed by Benefit Cosmetics.

The process began with research on the brand and product line. There was a clear theme of vintage magic that advanced the overall direction (fig. 1).

Considering there were three shades to represent along with magician elements, a 3/4 angle with a more organic composition helped accommodate the number of elements. Dramatic, moody spotlights reinforced the concept (fig. 2).

Rough sketching (fig. 3) provided an initial estimate of composition and spacial relationships. Sketching also defined the realistic props that needed to be ordered.

After numerous extended exposures from various light sources, the end result showcases the product and nods to the product branding. The application instructions are visible inside one of the products, emphasizing ease of use (fig. 4).
